  • Israel and the International Atomic Energy Agency signed a technical cooperation agreement
A technical cooperation agreement between the Israel Atomic Energy Commission (IAEC) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was signed on 20 Sep 2006. The Israeli side was represented by Ambassador Israel Michaeli and the IAEA by Deputy Director General for Technical Cooperation, Ms. Ana Maria Chetto.

This milestone agreement known as the Country Program Framework (CPF) reflects the enhanced cooperation between Israel and the Agency in the development of peaceful applications of nuclear technology.

In recent years Israel and the Agency have been working hand in hand to successfully promote international and regional interests in the field of health, agriculture and environment.

The CPF is a programming tool that provides a concise frame of reference for technical cooperation with Member States in the medium term (4-6 years). The strategic value of a CPF results from common commitment to improving the quality and effectiveness of technical co-operation between a Member State and the IAEA. It is intended to establish a clear focus for technical cooperation in a given country.
